My experience is perception of passing time depends on newness & changes to environment. My first year of teaching in a sustainable MBA after a lifetime of software was slower. Learning Bitcoin was slower. I constantly challenge myself to newness to keep young. Uncomfort is OK.

I’d love @jack & the Twitter team to offer DIDs and W3C Verifiable Credentials. However, they’d need to accept them not just offer them. This was the tragedy of OpenID that Twitter contributed to that many developers fear. #RebootingWebOfTrust is trying to address this problem.

There is some work to support DIDs in Mastodon for portability, by folk like @dustyweb. For instance with a DID based on the BTCR method you could use some Bitcoin dust to create an account on a server, and spend that dust to revoke it or move your account to a new server.

I believe that there is a place for biometrics in self-sovereign hardware enclaves—the iPhone 8 fingerprint reader as a good example. But biometric information should never leave personal control — never sent through networks to support authentication—too many human rights risks.

Most people submit topic papers. We’ve never made a profit. If there is an excess we hold some as a reserve for next event, some is used for academic & diversity scholarships. We’d like to be able to sometimes offer some expense reimbursements for leadership team but not to date.

I sometimes wish we could warn people when PRs are larger than X lines. We get some well-meaning contributions to W3C standards documents sometimes, but I wish they would break them into smaller PRs.

A second on ability to move issues to another repo (or at least copy them intact) preserving the authors name a metadata like date submitted. We’ve tried using some external tools for this but are clunky and metadata list.
