The full answer is more complex than that. California is suggesting that you save your vaccine QRs to your camera roll, which isn't entirely insecure, but which also has usability problems because photos can be shared way too easily & hard to find the correct QR you need. [3/10]

So we've created Gordian QR Tool, an iPhone & Mac app built as a secure vault for QR codes. It leverages your iPhone's secure enclave, two-factor authentication, and biometrics to ensure that no one but you can access this personal information. It's also good for a lot of other kinds of QRs, such as travel passes, crypto-seeds, crypto-keys, and 2FA-seeds. (Ever had to reset all of your 2FAs after you lost a phone? It's a pain. QR Tool would allow you to restore directly from saved 2FA QRs.) [5/10]

The security of Gordian QR Tool extends to ensuring that your QR codes haven't been changed. It uses LifeHash to create unique, but evocative full-color graphics of each QR, allowing you to recognize them at a glance. [6/10] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu0K__KLxKo&t

Finally, Gordian QR Tool address some problems of usability by automatically categorizing many known kinds of QRs, and allows you to categorize the rest. It supports sorting your QRs by a variety of means. You can find the specific QR you need in seconds. [7/10]

Though the Gordian QR Tool is available through the Apple App Store, as it is open source, if you prefer you can compile yourself directly from the source code. [9/10] https://github.com/BlockchainCommons/GordianQRTool-iOS

This is one of many projects at Blockchain Commons, meant to demonstrate new ways to store and use keys and other critical information (such as QRs!). You can support our work by becoming a patron. [10/10] https://github.com/sponsors/BlockchainCommons
