For me Lightcoin’s biggest value is as a “live” testnet. This will allow it to potentially offer features sooner that Bitcoin can, like it did with segwit. In the future this can mean fungibility improvements, exchange-less trading atomic swaps, etc. Someday maybe a sidechain?

Two things: there are some features that a testnet can’t test sufficiently (though start on a testnet!); secondly I believe that Bitcoin legitimately must make changes difficult, but it also must innovate. Lightcoin could become such a place to learn from.
