I agree with you @TheBlueMatt—the word ‘trustless’ should be reserved to a higher standard. There is value in public federated systems, and there is utility in hosting a node to audit that federation, but that node is not contributing to a trustless system, only an auditable one.

I also believe that there is a fundamental difference between voting as part of larger deliberation systems for the creation of laws, vs ways of determining collective wisdom of a small community. Like a number of other areas some systems don’t scale (see my Dunbar articles).

The wallet for Exodus is implemented in two parts, with one part being in the TrustZone, other UI. secp256k1 is of course implemented in the TrustZone part app, but it isn’t implemented as an API available for other blockchain apps. I’m puzzling through through an architecture.

I’m not surprised by this. Biometrics themselves are not truly unique, and digital representations of biometrics are algorithms that are attackable. At best biometrics should be one of many auth required. But biometrics also fall easily into human rights abuse so be careful!

I think it is a tragedy that SEC bungled implementation of the JOBS Act, intended by Congess to allow more than the 1% to be able to legally invest in startups. However, ICOs are not the answer. I have never purchased or received a token from an ICO.

I use bitcoin not because not because of its potential value as speculative asset, but for its real value as it is censorship-resistant (aka coercion-resistant) & has true cryptographic-based smart contracts (as opposed to ETH code) which allow payment channels like Lightning.

I’ve long been uncomfortable with JavaScript & Node solutions & applications for Bitcoin due to problems like these. The tool chain is insecure, and the language is as well. Not that other open source projects are perfect (e.g. Heartbleed), but really hard to solve in JS domain.

Because Script is closer to and largely relies on the cryptographic math, not the code. The underlying cryptography is abstracted out of almost all Solidity smart contracts, but fundamental to almost all Script smart contracts.

That is a different thing, an attempt to be able to formally prove code. Useful, but has very little to do with integrating cryptography with the language. It is only one of 6 (maybe 7) requirements for #SmartSignatures, of which Bitcoin Script is close.

I believe being able to formally prove code is extremely important, but orthogonal to the difference between Bitcoin Script where supporting the cryptography is the essence, as opposed to reducing errors in algorithmic code.
