I would like to see a convention where I can send all my change (say from my FullyNoded 2 iOS wallet) to my Wasabi or other mixer as a new BIP44 change type 2, and Wasabi automatically returns it to change type 1 (internal) when complete. CC/@FullyNoded

Advantage of this is that my spending wallet can know its full balance by adding all the change types, even though funds on change type 2 “mixer” is unavailable for some period.

We are planning to use change type 7 for BTCR Decentralized Identifiers, so that you don’t accidentally spend your identity. But when you are done using it you can return the funds back to your mixer and create new uncorrelated ones. Does anyone use change types other than 0 & 1?

There are already delays in Bitcoin due to confirmation that a good wallet UX must account for. Real world finance has delays of funds available to spend vs total balance. We can create good UX with change control to make UTXO coin selection privacy work for more average users.

Far more people can grok simple, intuitive (but wrong) ideas than can grasp nuanced and complex ones in any given field…a Pareto distribution can form with maybe 20% of people having 80% of the understanding” https://techiavellian.com/intellectual-denial-of-service-attacks

Doing my part to amplify the 20%, especially when it is thoughtful, nuanced & respectful (aka doesn’t point fingers so strongly which leads to counter-attacks). The emotionally persuasive have too many advantages as it is so we have to do what we can communicate effectively.

I do worry regularly about the missing 20% of the 80% of understanding that the 20% don’t understand. Some of it is not understanding or being blind to something the 80% understand emotionally, but some is invisible to all, or worse itself being manipulated by the 1%.🤔

I’ve been tussling with @JoeAndrieu on a definition (companion to functional identity definition). So far “Trust is acceptance of a vulnerability to something you cannot control”. Missing is what makes for why acceptance, which for some is recourse, but others acceptable loss.
Fri Feb 28 20:34:20 +0000 2020
Trust may be in the dictionary, but like identity all definitions may be true, but we found that limiting ourselves to using the subset “functional identity” helps us get through some technical obstacles. Finding some equivalent for “xxxxx trust” may also have that good result.
